Cathy Temple

Cathy Temple, also known as Mrs. Temple, is a guest in the first season of Abbott Elementary. She is a former volunteer art teacher at Abbott Elementary. She was replaced by Sahar.

The teachers and staff of Abbott were throwing a farewell party for Mrs. Temple on her last day as volunteer art teacher. She gave her thanks to Melissa and Barbara. However, the two did not remember her name. It was not until Janine came out with a surprise cake for her and called her by her name that they found out what it was. Ironically, she did not remember Janine's name and asked the other teachers who she was. She was replaced by Sahar shortly thereafter.

Janine gave her a cake in the shape of Bermuda shorts because her favorite vacation spot is Bermuda.

Ms. Davis

Ms. Davis is a minor character in Abbott Elementary. She is a volunteer music teacher at Abbott.

When Janine's class had not yet returned to her classroom, she went to Ms. Davis' room to pick them up. Janine was chewing gum, so Ms. Davis told her to put the gum in Wanda, the Waste Basket. She asked her students to come back to her classroom, but her kids were having so much fun that they did not budge. It was not until Janine "threatened" to collect the recorders did the students stop playing their instruments.

Ms. Pinkney

Ms. Pinkney is a minor character in the second season of Abbott Elementary. She is a health teacher in Abbott.

During the mixer hosted by Janine during Development Week, Ms. Pinkney was seen hanging out with Janine. When Mr. Johnson asked the teachers whose car is getting booted, Ms. Pinkney rushed outside together with the other teachers when they found out that the car was Janine's.

During Teacher Appreciation Week, the teachers were arguing over who deserved the 76ers courtside tickets more. Ms. Pinkney argued that being the health teacher, she deserved it more for keeping the students drug-, tobacco-, and vape-free. When Mr. Johnson won the tickets, she protested saying that he isn't even a real teacher. After the tickets were awarded, she apologized to the other teachers for her remarks when they were arguing.

Wendell

Wendell is a minor character in Abbott Elementary. He works at Abbott as a cafeteria worker.

When Janine took some potatoes from the lunchroom so she could use them as a visual for one of her students, Wendell came to her classroom to take them back.

During AVA Fest, Wendell and another cafeteria worker were having a disagreement on the consistency of the macaroni they were going to serve during the festival. Wendell preferred his macaroni to be solid, while his co-worker wanted to serve soupy macaroni. In the end, Ava decided to have both soupy and solid macaroni served during the festival.

Antoine

Antoine is a minor character in the first season of Abbott Elementary. He is a student of Gregory Eddie.

Antoine had to go to the bathroom. Gregory had just started subbing for Tina Schwartz, so he brought the student to the bathroom. On the way, Antoine accidentally went on himself. Gregory tried to flush the toilet, but water shot back up in the air which drenched him and the boy. Janine offered to help with Antoine as she had extra pants in her classroom. She took Antoine from Gregory to get the former changed. As they were leaving the bathroom, Janine reassured him that everything was okay because everybody pees.

Bria

Bria is a minor character in the first season of Abbott Elementary. She is a student of Janine Teagues.

Janine was showing a film to the class when Bria vomited. Her classmates reacted to this which caught Janine's attention while she was drafting her e-mail to request for a new rug. Janine took her to the bathroom to clean her up. There they met Gregory Eddie who was also there to clean up a student. Janine decided to help Gregory with his student since she had extra pants in her classroom. She left Bria under Gregory's care as she left. Bria tells Gregory that she threw up.

Brianna

Brianna is a minor character in the first season of Abbott Elementary. She is one of the students in Abbott Elementary who was suspected to have participated in the online trend, "desking."

When Abbott teachers found out that their students have been desking, they enlisted the help of Zach to identify the shoes left on the desks. After Zach identified the shoes, Gregory remembered seeing only two students wearing the same shoes, Brianna being one of them. Brianna, along with the other student, was brought to the principal's office for questioning. She was interrogated by Jacob and Janine in Janine's classroom. However, she refused to talk so they released her. Before going back to her class, she told the teachers that desking was bigger than they could imagine.

Brittany

Brittany is a minor character in the first season of Abbott Elementary. She is a student of Janine Teagues.

In one of their class activities, Janine asked her class to write about their favorite movie and movie characters. Brittany wrote that her favorite movie was American Gangster and that her favorite character was Frank Lucas. Janine became concerned with this answer and decided that she would be having a talk with Brittany's mother for a third time.

Chad

Chad is a minor character in Abbott Elementary. He is a student at Abbott who tried to forge his mother's signature. He also dressed up as Mr. Johnson during Halloween.

When Abbott Elementary went on a field trip to the zoo, Chad tried to forge his mother's signature so he could go. Unfortunately, Ava saw that he signed his permission slip as "Chad's Mom," so he got sent to Mr. Johnson who was to watch all the students who were not permitted to go to the zoo. He stayed at school, where he and the other students spent their time in the library. When they got bored from doing nothing, Mr. Johnson told them to write an essay about heroes. He submitted an essay about how the teachers at Abbott were their real heroes.

During Halloween, Chad dressed up as Mr. Johnson, who was not thrilled by the student's use of his likeness. When Baby Thanos stole all the candy, Chad helped the teachers find Baby Thanos by following the candy trail. He was able to convince Baby Thanos to surrender, so Chad led him to the gym to where the teachers were.

Cierra

Cierra is a minor character in the first season of Abbott Elementary. She is a student of Jacob Hill.

When Jacob figured out a way to incorporate his students' roasting into his lessons, Cierra had to guess "Abraham Lincoln" in their version of Heads Up!

Desiree

Desiree is a minor character in the second season of Abbott Elementary. She is a student of Melissa Schemmenti.

Melissa had just started teaching two classes due to the charter school taking the students who had high test scores. Melissa was barely managing to control her class. She sat the third graders on one side who were answering a worksheet, and the second graders on the other side who were learning about how to read time. Desiree told Melissa that a boy had tied his shoelaces to the desk. In the middle of the classroom disorder, Desiree stood up to leave to go to the library. Melissa stopped her and asked where she was going. She answered that third graders were allowed to go to the library by themselves. However, Melissa pointed out that she was still in second grade, but Desiree responded that that only depended on where you sat in class.

Dominique

Dominique is a minor character in Abbott Elementary. She is part of the Abbott Steppers, a step class taught jointly by Janine Teagues and Ava Coleman.

When Janine formed the after-school step class, Dominique joined in together with other students. When Dominique and the other steppers were practicing the routine Janine had taught them, Ava stopped the music and asked that someone put on some good music. Dominique suggested to put on a Cardi B song which Ava approved. On the day when the Abbott Steppers were going to perform in front of the school, Dominique informed Janine that Ava left and that Janine would have to lead them despite the fact that she barely knew the routine.

On the A.V.A. Festival, Dominique performed a number together with the other Abbott Steppers.

In "Festival," she is credited as Step Student #1.

Erica

Erica is a minor character in the first season of Abbott Elementary. She is a student of Janine Teagues.

Erica saw Janine removing the pee-stained rug and called her by her first name and asked what she was doing. Janine corrected her and asked to be called Ms. Teagues.

Imani (ASL Student)

Imani is a minor character in the second season of Abbott Elementary. She is a Deaf student in Abbott.

Jacob had just learned ASL during his stay in Peru. During the first day back to school, Imani was introduced to Jacob and the two communicated in ASL.

Isaiah

Isaiah answered a math question in Janine's class so Janine rewarded him a sticker of his choice. He chose stars.

Jamal

The toilets at Abbott weren't working, so Jamal decided to urinate on the rug in Janine's classroom. This caused Janine to request for a new rug, a request that was ignored by Ava.

Jeremiah

Jeremiah is a minor character in Abbott Elementary. He is the only male member of the Abbott Steppers, a step class taught jointly by Janine Teagues and Ava Coleman.

When Janine formed the after-school step class, Jeremiah joined in together with other students.

Jordan

Jordan is a minor character in Abbott Elementary. He is a student of Gregory Eddie.

Gregory Eddie was worried that his class was falling behind on Math and the State assessments were coming up. He decided to forego recess for additional Math lessons. While asking word problems to his students, Jordan would ask seemingly irrelevant questions rather than answer the problems being asked. Barbara helped Gregory realize that those questions actually showed critical thinking and answering the questions helped students focus. After this, Jordan continued to ask these questions, only this time, Gregory no longer brushed them off and answered them in earnest.

Kenny

Kenny is a minor character in the first season of Abbott Elementary. He is a student of Gregory Eddie.

When Gregory was doing a headcount of his students before they went to the school field trip to the zoo, he found that he was one kid short. Luckily, Mr. Johnson found Kenny hiding inside a trash bag. Mr. Johnson returned him to Gregory and they boarded the bus. Janine noticed this and asked if Kenny was okay. Gregory answered that he was just nervous about going into the second grade. Since Janine was probably going to be Kenny's teacher the following year, she suggested that Kenny be part of her group just to get him a head start.

While they were listening to a presentation given by the zoo's bird trainer, Janine talked to Kenny and reassured him that it wouldn't be that big of a change from first grade and that he would still have the same friends. This somewhat reassured him, although their conversation left Janine a bit distracted due to the possibility of her moving to New York with Tariq.

Because Janine was distracted, she failed to realize that Kenny had wandered off. She ultimately found him on the Zoo Balloon. Although she was afraid of heights, she rode the balloon with Kenny where she reassured him about being in second-grade by saying that doing the scary things could help him grow.

Lana

1x13 Lana Portrayed by: Zoe Afia Holmes

Lana is a minor character in the first season of Abbott Elementary. She is a student of Barbara Howard."

During Abbott's field trip to the zoo, Lana was seated next to Barbara. The girl behind her had tried to bite her, so Lana got angry and said not to bite her with her fake Gucci jacket.

Malcolm

1x06 Malcolm Portrayed by: Jayce B. Johnson

Malcolm is a minor character in Abbott Elementary. He transferred to Abbott from Elway Academy where he was part of the gifted program. This inspires Janine Teagues to establish a gifted program at Abbott.

Malcolm transferred to Abbott because his parents wanted him to be around other Black kids. Ava introduced him to the other teachers as a bright and talented student, being part of his former school's gifted program. After the introduction, Janine asked Malcolm if he'd like to eat breakfast with the other kids. As Malcolm was leaving, he picks up some trash, which made Mr. Johnson declare him to be brilliant.

Some time later, Janine found him trying to fix Ava's laptop, despite his protests that he should be in class. After Janine spoke with Ava, she brought Malcolm to his class with Jacob in the gifted program.

At another time, Malcolm was again at Ava's office where the latter hoped to brag about his brilliance to her sorority sisters. This made Malcolm ask what Ava did in her office and made him conclude that she didn't do anything. This led to Ava wanting to shut the gifted program because Malcolm was becoming too smart.

Subsequently, Malcolm was interviewed by the camera crew and he said that they never did any fun stuff at his old school. He told them that he liked Ava because she was like a big kid. She was silly and didn't have a job. When Malcolm spilled candy in Ava's office, he cleaned up his mess. Mr. Johnson saw this and declared him to be a cleaning genius.

Malcolm does not appear in the final cut of "Teacher Appreciation" even though he is credited. He also appeared in the promotional pictures that the show released for the episode.

Marie

Marie is a minor character in the first season of Abbott Elementary. She is a student of Janine Teagues.

When Janine was helping out another student with their Math word problems, Marie answered for her classmate since the latter was having a hard time answering the problem. Since Marie finished her work early, Janine asked her to sharpen some colored pencils. And when Marie finished doing that, Janine asked her to grade her classmates' worksheets.

Marie was part of the gifted program. She was in the library with the other students when Jacob had them witness the hatching of chicken eggs.

Melina

Melina is a minor character in the first season of Abbott Elementary. She is a student of Melissa Schemmenti.

Janine saw her walking timidly in the school's hallway, looking up at the lights. Janine asked what was wrong and Melina told her that she didn't want to walk down the hallway because it was scary. It made her not want to go to school. The hallway lights were flickering and had been going on and off for weeks. When Mr. Johnson told Janine that fixing the lights was above his pay grade, Janine assured Melina that she was going to do something about the lights. In the teachers' lounge, Janine informed Melissa how Melina was afraid to come to school that morning.

Mya

When a commotion broke out at in the hallway, Mya rushed to Janine to inform her that Ms. Schwartz had just kicked a student.

Myles

Myles is a minor character in the first season of Abbott Elementary. He is a student of Jacob Hill.

Myles came across Jacob in the hallway and complemented his sweater. The complement seemed genuine and there was no punchline, so Janine and Jacob think that they have finally earned their students' enthusiasm and respect.

Patrick

When Patrick saw Janine removing their class's pee-stained rug, Jamal got worried as this was where they would sit during story time.

Rajon

Rajon is a minor character in the first season of Abbott Elementary. He is a student at Abbott who was kicked by Tina Schwartz.

A commotion started in the school's hallway when Tina Schwartz kicked Rajon. According to the teacher, Rajon allegedly hit her first. Rajon called her a liar. Tina Schwartz was subsequently fired after the incident.

Ronald

Ronald is a minor character in the first season of Abbott Elementary. He is a student of Janine Teagues.

When Janine's class passed by the library where the gifted program was convening, Ronald saw them hatch some chicken eggs. He told Janine that he was smart, too, and asked if he could also be in the "chicken school." After Janine saw her class feeling left out because of the gifted program, she decided to hatch some chicken eggs in her classroom. Ronald noticed one of the eggs breaking so he called out to Janine. As Janine was explaining the process of hatching, he noticed that they were scaley, which confused Janine. The eggs turned out to be snake eggs which caused a frenzy in Janine's class.

Shahrzad

Shahrzad is a minor character in the first season of Abbott Elementary. She is Melissa Schemmenti's student.

When the whole school of Abbott went to the zoo for a field trip, Shahrzad was in attendance in Melissa's class.

Paris Turner, who plays Shahrzad, is the sister of Peyton Turner who plays Nia, Janine's student.

Shania

Shania is a minor character in the first season of Abbott Elementary. She is a student at Abbott Elementary.

When Abbott Elementary had a field trip to the zoo, Shania was one of the students who were not permitted by their parents to go. She had to stay with Mr. Johnson and a few other students while the rest of the school went to the zoo. She spent the whole day at the library. When Mr. Johnson told them to write an essay about superheroes, Shania asked if she could just draw instead. When Mr. Johnson said that they could do whatever it takes to keep them out of his hair, she commented that Mr. Johnson was bald.

Shawn

Shawn is a minor character in the first season of Abbott Elementary. He is a student of Janine Teagues.

His classmate, Andrew, hit him and he expressed this grievance to Janine. Andrew refused to apologize to him.

Shayla

Shayla is a minor character in Abbott Elementary. She is part of the Abbott Steppers, a step class taught jointly by Janine Teagues and Ava Coleman.

When Janine formed the after-school step class, Shayla joined in together with other students. Ava had started to work with Janine in teaching step class. Before the class could do some stretching, Ava brought some tacos and then asked for some tea. Shayla shared that she heard that Miss Cooper was dating Mr. Peach and Coach Wilson.

On the A.V.A. Festival, Shayla performed a number together with the other Abbott Steppers.

In "Festival," she is credited as Step Student #5.

Sheena

Sheena is a minor character in the first season of Abbott Elementary. She is a student of Janine Teagues.

After Ava found out about Janine's email to the Superintendent, she called for a trust workshop for the teachers. She felt that she was disrespected. She asked the teachers to say something they didn't like about Janine. When the teachers refused to participate, Ava called on Sheena. Janine protested it was lunch break and Sheena was hungry. Ava asked Sheena to say what she wished was different about Janine. Sheena did not answer. Janine apologizes for disrespecting Ava and she also apologized to Sheena for missing lunch. Janine tried to give Sheena her pizza, but the student declined the offer.

Stefon

1x11 Stefon Portrayed by: Jamaal Avery Jr.

Stefon is a minor character in the first season of Abbott Elementary. He is one of the students in Abbott Elementary who was suspected to have participated in the online trend, "desking."

Sydnee is a recurring character in Abbott Elementary. She is a student of Janine Teagues.

Sydnee was having a hard time with Math word problems, so Janine used a bunch of potatoes to illustrate the problem. However, Sydnee didn't like potatoes, so she wasn't solving the problem that was presented. Janine told her that if she hated potatoes, then she should try and pretend that they're sweet potatoes. Unfortunately, Sydnee REALLY didn't like sweet potatoes so she the word problem was left unsolved.

Just then, Wendell entered Janine's classroom to take back the potatoes that Janine took from the lunchroom, leaving her with zero potatoes. This statement made Sydnee cheer.

While the school's gifted program was convening at the library, Janine's class passed by and Sydnee called to her classmates when she saw the class hatch some chicks.

Janine had decided to hatch chicken eggs in their classroom after feeling bad for excluding students from the gifted program. When the eggs hatched, they turned out to be snake eggs. Sydnee noted that the "chicks" were wet. She picked up one of the snakes and tossed it into the air, hoping it would fly thinking that it was a bird.

When Abbott was infested by mice, Sydnee picked up one of the rodents and called it her friend.

Gritty

Gritty is a guest character in the second season of Abbott Elementary. He is the official mascot for the Philadelphia Flyers.

During Abbott's Development Week, Janine booked Gritty to come to Abbott's first day of school. Unfortunately, she mistook the date to be a week earlier and Gritty arrived during Development Week instead.

Harold

2x03 Harold Portrayed by: James III

Harold is a guest character in Abbott Elementary. He is one of the three Story Samurai who performed at Abbott Elementary.

When Story Samurai, a storytelling group, visited Abbott Elementary, Harold was one of the three who performed in the school. During their first performance when a student suggested that the subject of their improv would be Meek Mill, Harold continued the improv to say that he was a meerkat strolling through Western Phillym, but that it wouldn't be a story without a conflict. After the teachers saw their performance, they were amused at how corny it was, although the samurai were oblivious to their corniness.

Harold knew of Jacob from his past stint as a Story Samurai and called him "sensei." When Jacob informed the samurai that he wouldn't be joining them for their afternoon performance, Harold expressed his disappointment. regarded Jacob's performances as legendary. During lunch break, Tyrone enjoyed a cheesesteak from the corner store near the school.

After Harold saw Jacob's interaction with Clarence in the gym, Harold told Jacob that the reason why they "samurai" was connecting with the kids.

Jacob had suggested that they consider working in a school full-time after they moved on from the Story Samurai. Harold expressed that it wasn't for him because in a school setting, he just wanted to be like a firefighter for joy who sprayed as much joy as possible, and then get out.

After their performance at Abbott, Mr. Johnson had shouted at them to get their "corny asses" out of the gym so he could start cleaning. They also asked Ava for a suggestion for their improv at the school halls, but Ava drove them away.

Jim Gardner

Jim Gardner is a guest in the first season of Abbott Elementary. He is a news anchor and host of "Action News."

Jim Gardner hosts Action News, a daily morning news show. The teachers at Abbott love his show and watch it every day. Barbara is particularly fond of him and his non-regional diction.

Lorraine

1x09 Lorraine Portrayed by: Reatha Grey

Lorraine is a minor guest in the first season of Abbott Elementary. She is the grandmother of Ava Coleman.

Lorraine was living with Ava for two weeks. During this time, Ava filed for vacation leave so she could find a place that could take good care of her. On the day that the Abbott Steppers were to perform at school, Lorraine had an episode. Her caretaker took her to Abbott so she could see Ava, in the hopes that it would calm her down.

Megan

Megan is a guest character in Abbott Elementary. She is one of the three Story Samurai who performed at Abbott Elementary.

When Story Samurai, a storytelling group, visited Abbott Elementary, Megan was one of the three who performed in the school. During their first performance, Megan had asked for a suggestion for the subject of their improv. After the teachers saw their performance, they were amused at how corny it was, although the samurai were oblivious to their corniness.

Megan knew of Jacob from his past stint as a Story Samurai. Megan regarded Jacob as their dopest alumnus (other than Josh Gad).

Monica Williams

Monica Williams[1] is a minor character in the first season of Abbott Elementary. She is an E.R. nurse and the mother of Nina, Janine Teagues's student.

Monica's daughter, Nina, is Janine's student who has been struggling in school and Janine has not been able to connect with Monica about the matter. The school's annual open house was the only chance for Janine to talk to Monica and the latter promised that she would be there. All throughout the day, Janine was trying to contact her to confirm the meeting, however, all her calls and emails were unanswered.

Open House closed at 8pm and Monica was still not in attendance. At 8:30pm, Monica finally arrived, but Janine initially refused to entertain her because she was late, and because of some issues Janine was dealing with her own mother.

Monica revealed that she was stuck in the E.R. due to a gunshot patient. Janine realized that she took out her own frustrations at Monica and apologized. The two talked about Nina and how to help with her schoolwork. After their conversation, Janine and Monica shared a hug.

Shiela is a minor character in the first season of Abbott Elementary. She is a zoo docent at the Philadelphia Zoo.

When Barbara and her students were at the zoo, they visited Barbara's favorite animal, Duster the tuatara. She informed Barbara that Duster was no longer at the zoo and had been moved to a reserve. She adds that when the stimulation at the zoo gets to be too much for the animals, they are retired. This caused Barbara to become upset because according to her, Duster was an institution at the zoo.

Tyrone

Tyrone is a guest character in Abbott Elementary. He is one of the three Story Samurai who performed at Abbott Elementary.

When Story Samurai, a storytelling group, visited Abbott Elementary, Tyrone was one of the three who performed in the school. During their first performance when a student suggested that the subject of their improv would be Meek Mill, Tyrone asked what if he were a meerkat. After the teachers saw their performance, they were amused at how corny it was, although the samurai were oblivious to their corniness.

Tyrone knew of Jacob from his past stint as a Story Samurai. Tyrone regarded Jacob's performances as legendary. During lunch break, Tyrone enjoyed a cheesesteak from the corner store near the school.

When Clarence was in the gym with his friends, Tyrone tried to fist bump him, but Clarence declined to return the gesture.

Vinny "The Tire Iron" Romano or Vinny is a guest in the first season of Abbott Elementary. He is Melissa Schemmenti's cousin who was invited to speak in Jacob's class.

When Melissa overheard Jacob's lesson on unions in Philadelphia and how many of them started in South Philly, she confronted, telling him it was garbage because it was not how it happened. This led to Melissa suggesting that she bring in a captain from back in the day so he could come to Jacob's class and do an eyewitness account for the students.

Melissa revealed that Vinny had just gotten out of jail and that he needed 100 more hours for his community service. Inviting him to speak in Jacob's class would count towards this. However, Jacob misunderstood and thought that Melissa was inviting a police captain and not a strike captain. Vinny recounted one of the many times he and his group stood against firefighters and how they were throwing rocks at them. This account made Jacob anxious and led him to confront Melissa about bringing in an "accomplice" to class.

At some point during his talk, he urged Jacob's students to go on strike until there were no more pop quizzes.

Wallace

Wallace is a guest in the first season of Abbott Elementary. He is a tech teacher sent by the district to help teachers use a new learning technology that helps students with their reading.

Barbara assumed that the new tech teacher would be a younger fellow but was surprised to see Wallace who is a much older gentleman. He instructed and helped the teachers understand how to use the new app they would be using. At some point during Wallace's instruction, he answered Melissa's queries regarding the analytics annex. He answered her using some tech jargon causing more confusion to the more senior teachers.
