Amber Williams

Amber Williams is a recurring character in Abbott Elementary. She is the ex-girlfriend of Gregory Eddie. She is also the mother of Joel, a former student of Gregory,[1] and Carolina, Janine's student.[2]

She is portrayed by Naté Jones.

Season One[]

In Light Bulb, Amber was dropping off her son, Joel, to school an hour late. Ava had noticed that this had happened six times in the last two weeks, so she asked Gregory to do something about it. Gregory was not too keen on confronting a student's parent since he was a substitute teacher. He asked advice from Barbara about his predicament, so Barbara advised him to eat lunch with her at a nearby nail salon. When Gregory arrived at the nail salon, Barbara revealed that she knew the Williams family and that Amber went to the nail salon every two weeks, same as her. After some coaxing by Barbara, Gregory eventually talked to Amber. Amber was bringing her son late because her shift at her job didn't start until 9:30am, so it was easier for her to drop him off at around 9:00am and go straight to work. After Gregory explained how her son was falling behind on the lessons, Amber promised to get him to class on time.

Season Two[]

In Candy Zombies, Amber's daughter was in Janine's class. She brought her to school on Halloween and just before she left, she asked Janine to give the special bag of candy she prepared for Gregory. When Janine gave the candy to Gregory, he offered it to Janine since he was not a fan of sweets. As Janine was opening the candy bag, she discovered that Amber had left a note with her phone number on it, which was intended for Gregory. Later that day, Janine gave the note to Gregory. Shortly after that, Gregory and Amber started dating.

In Attack Ad, Amber was seen by Janine in the hallway comfortably chatting with Gregory.

In Egg Drop, Gregory mentioned that Amber had cancelled on him for their date that night, so he was free to help Janine with the egg drop.

In Holiday Hookah, Amber initially did not accompany Gregory for the night out, but sometime later that night, she decided to go out and she texted Gregory to meet her at another bar near the hookah bar Gregory was at.

In Valentine's Day, Gregory was deciding what gift he would be giving Amber for Valentine's Day. After consulting with Janine, Gregory decided to give Amber a LEGO flower bouquet because she was allergic to real flowers. After school, Amber went to Abbott to meet up with Gregory for their date. She saw Maurice's gift for Janine―a Telfar bag, and she hoped that Gregory had prepared a similar gift. When Gregory gave her the LEGO flowers, she was disappointed and thought the gift was for her children. Gregory suggested that they build it together with the kids as they were leaving school. She did not reply to the suggestion, but instead commented at how much she loved Janine's bag.

In Teacher Conference, to make up for his Valentine's Day gift debacle, Gregory prepared a romantic weekend getaway with Amber to the Poconos. After school, Amber had brought her luggage with her, ready for the weekend away with Gregory. When Gregory was enumerating the different activities he had planned for them, Amber got confused because she thought that they would be spending the weekend doing nothing. Gregory misunderstood this and instead penciled in some "nothing" time in between the activities he had already planned. Knowing that they were not on the same page once again, Amber decided to break things off with Gregory. Because of their breakup, Gregory proceeded to attend the teachers' conference with the other teachers.

In Festival, Amber attended the "A Very Abbott" Festival held by Abbott during the school's annual open house. She and Gregory ran into each other, and she informed him that she had a new boyfriend named Rashon. While Draemond was on stage making his Legendary Charter pitch, she and some other parents questioned his plans and motives for the school.
